The fairy tale opera "The Candy House" by Humboldt is adapted from a popular story in Grimm's Fairy Tales: a pair of little siblings get lost in the forest and suddenly see a small house made of cookies and candy. While enjoying their dessert, they are caught and imprisoned by a witch, but in the end, they cleverly escape. The music of this work is full of fantasy colors, and the orchestration is colorful and magical, with sweetness revealing danger.
