Before the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Egyptians flock to local markets to buy colorful Arabic lanterns for their children or use them as decorations for their homes and workplaces.
For Egyptians, buying Ramadan lanterns is almost a necessity as it has become a tradition for centuries.
These lanterns are mostly handmade and decorate the streets and narrow alleys of Egyptian cities during the holiest Islamic month that begins on Thursday.
