Paddle boat, also known as rowing boat, is a type of vessel propelled by oars. It has a long history and is widely used.
The primitive water vehicles used by humans, such as canoes or rafts, had no power and could travel downstream. If they wanted to turn or go upstream, they had to use their hands to paddle. Later, humans invented the oar, which is an extension of the human arm. With oars, people can sit on boats and paddle forward. If you want to increase the propulsion speed of a ship, you need to increase the number of oars. So, a type of rowing boat first developed around the Mediterranean Sea.
